Nevada Open Space Assessment
Established in 1975, Nevada state law NRS 361A authorizes local governments to enact special provisions or ordinances to effect the preservation of lands that have an “open space use.” The definition of an “open space use” includes the employment of land to “preserve sites designated as historic by the Office of Historic Preservation of the State Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.” (NRS 361A.050).
This program is managed at the discretion of individual counties. For more information about the program, including whether your county participates with the Open Space Assessment Program, and whether your property can qualify, contact your County Assessor.
