Nevada’s Preservation Community Goes CAMPing!
The Nevada State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) is offering a free statewide training workshop for local historic preservation commissions on Friday, September 25, 2026 in Carson City, Nevada.
NAPC CAMP 2025
The SHPO invites all local historic preservation commission members and staff, elected officials, site stewards, and preservation partners throughout the state to attend.
The workshop features trained speakers from around the country from the National Alliance of Preservation Commissions (NAPC). The NAPC’s Commission Assistance and Mentoring Program (CAMP) is a free one-day in-person workshop (with a free virtual option available).
The NAPC's mission is to build strong local preservation programs and leaders through education, training, and advocacy. With their exceptional team of trainers, their CAMP provides high quality, engaging, and informative training to preservation boards and commissions through presentations, hands-on exercises, group discussions, networking and mentoring.
Nevada’s workshop will include sessions on Legal Basics, Meeting Procedures, Standards and Guidelines for Design Review, a Design Review Exercise, How to Prepare a Preservation Plan, and Community Engagement and Building Public Support.
For those interested, the SHPO will also be hosting optional networking opportunities and historic building tours on both Thursday, September 24 and Saturday, September 26.
