At its core, historic preservation is about people coming together to preserve shared history and traditions. Places from our past have a lot to offer us today, and in the future, but preserving these important places takes the hard work of people like you.
The Nevada State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) supports several programs to help individuals get involved with Nevada’s historic preservation community.
- Through internships, the Nevada SHPO works on building the next generation of preservation professionals.
- Through the Nevada Site Stewardship Program, the Nevada SHPO works to get everyday citizens working directly with archaeologists to preserve cultural resources across the state.
- Through Historic Preservation and Archaeological Awareness Month, the Nevada SHPO works with organizations throughout the state to hold events that celebrate our shared cultural history.
