Public Involvement in the Section 106 Process
Proud of your heritage? Value the places that reflect your community’s history? You should know about Section 106 review. By law, you have a voice when a project involving federal action, approval, or funding may affect properties that qualify for the National Register of Historic Places, the nation’s official list of historic properties. A citizen's guide to Section 106 can be found here.
Each year, the federal government is involved with many projects that affect historic properties. While the responsibility for public notification rests solely with the responsible federal agency, this office offers a list of projects (undertakings) under review that have the potential to affect historic properties here. While this office makes every effort to update the attached information, the opportunity for the public to comment on these projects is often brief and you should contact the responsible federal agency for more information.
